Pros & Cons
Pros & Cons
- The low weight of 1447 in combination with the 45mm deep rim, makes the Scope R4 wheels a very good all-round wheel set that is absolutely on par with the Zipp 303.
- Thanks to the Algorithm Enhanced Aerodynamics technology, the rim is optimised to achieve the optimal and most aerodynamic rim profile.
- The Diamond Ratchet Body system is extremely light and ensures that the power delivered is transferred to the wheel even faster.
- The pre-mounted tubeless rim tape makes the wheels tubeless in a flash, increasing comfort, lowering rolling resistance and increasing puncture resistance.
- Scope wheels are developed in the Netherlands in cooperation with Schwalbe, SKF, TU Eindhoven and TU Delft, so high quality is guaranteed.
- No wheel bags or brake discs are included when buying a wheelset.
- A body for Sram XDR, Campagnolo or Campagnolo N3W is available separately.

Description
Description
The Diamond Ratchet body system is a newly developed engagement system that ensures that the delivered power is transferred to the wheel even faster. The Scope R4 wheelset is equipped with durable SKF bearings with a good seal and low rolling resistance. The wheels are built on aerodynamic 45 mm deep rims with an external rim width of 28 mm. The pre-mounted tubeless rim tape and tubeless valves allow the R4 wheels to be run tubeless. The wide rim in combination with a wider tubeless outer tyre provides greater comfort, lower rolling resistance and increased puncture resistance. Scope is so confident of its quality that a three-year warranty is given on all wheels. In the event of a crash, it is possible to take advantage of the Scope crash replacement programme.
3 Year Warranty
Quality is Scope's number one priority. After registering your wheelset on their website within 30 days of purchase, you activate the 3-year warranty. When registering your wheelset it is necessary to mention the serial number. This can be found on the registration card provided, the wheel box or on the flange of the rear hub.
Lifetime Crash Replacement Programme
Despite its high quality, a Scope wheelset cannot always withstand the consequences of a severe crash. This is why Scope offers a crash replacement programme in addition to the 3-year guarantee. With this programme, Scope gives you the chance to replace the wheel after a crash at a reduced rate.
Technology
Algorithm Enhanced Aerodynamics (AEA)The rim profile of Scope wheels was developed using Algorithm Enhanced Aerodynamics (AEA) technology. This algorithm calculates the most aerodynamic rim profile to ensure optimum performance. For the previous generation of Scope wheels, countless hours were spent drawing hundreds of different rim profiles, which were then analysed using CFD in an attempt to find the optimal and most aerodynamic rim profile. This method of trial and error approaches the optimum rather than defining it. Together with Delft University of Technology (NL), an algorithm has been developed that defines the coordinates for the most aerodynamic rim profile. This unique innovation in aerodynamics is called Algorithm Enhanced Aerodynamics.
Hub system
The Scope hub system has been redeveloped. Proven features such as wide flange spacing (for high lateral stiffness), custom-made oversized (6803/6903) SKF bearings and the tool-free adapter system have remained and have only been refined where possible. In addition to the SKF bearings, CeramicSpeed bearings remain available as an upgrade for the Race series.
Diamond Ratchet Body System
The Diamond Ratchet body system is a newly developed engagement system which ensures that the power delivered is transferred to the wheel even faster. The standard 36T ratchet ring can be exchanged for a 48T ring for an even quicker engagement. Compatible with all groupsets: Shimano, Shimano Micro Spline, Sram XDR, Campagnolo and Campagnolo N3W.
Tubeless system
The geometry of the unique Scope Tubeless System allows for easy fitting, instant inflation, long-lasting pressure and compatibility with all (tubeless) tyres.
Local Reinforcement
With the Local Reinforcement carbon technology the number of carbon layers around the spoke holes on the inside of the rim has been increased. In this way the weight is significantly reduced while maintaining strength and rigidity.
Delivery includes
• Scope R4 wheels• Scope quick-release skewers
• Scope carbon brake pads
• Tubeless rim tape (pre-installed)
• Tubeless valves (pre-installed)
• 9/10 speed cassette spacer
• Warranty registration card
Assembly
• Cassette remover Shimano or Campagnolo• (possibly a torque wrench)
Installing a cassette on a wheel is easy if you have the right tools. If you purchase a cassette remover with a Shimano fit, you will be able to mount either a Shimano or Sram cassette on your rear wheel. Please note! For a Campagnolo cassette you need the Campagnolo tool. If you have a Shimano 9/10-speed cassette, first slide the spacer over the body. Then you place the cassette on the body. This can only be done in one way because of the fit of the body. Finally you turn the washer straight on by hand and tighten it with the cassette tool. Cassettes aren’t easily overtightened, but if you want you can use a torque wrench for this.
User tips
• Pay attention to the direction of travel when mounting your tyres.• For Shimano 9/10-speed, do not forget to mount the spacer first before installing the cassette.
• Make sure the rim tape is stuck well in the rim.

Good wheels for competition riders
I have had these wheels for a year now. I have ridden a number of races (criteriums) on them. They are very stiff and lie well in the corners.

Beautiful Dutch product that not only looks good but is also performance-enhancing
Light and stiff wheels that give more feel and speed. I.c.w. tubeless tyres also very comfortable.

Good choice for carbon wheels.
Wheels are tight and run nicely.

Sleek, sexy wheels, valuable upgrade
My first upgrade from standard wheels to carbon with medium-high rim is excellent. Bike is stable, speed goes up noticeably and the medium-high rim gives few problems in strong crosswinds. However, various types of outer tyre (tried with Vittoria Corsa and Continental Grand Prix) are extremely tight, making it quite a hassle to change a tyre. Many an inner tube was destroyed, but by now I have figured out how to do it.
